Waqar Younis Takes On Role As Advisor To PCB Chairman
Ex-Test captain Waqar Younis has taken over as the Cricket Advisor to the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Exercising constitutional powers, the Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appointed a 52-year-old former fast bowler, Waqar Younis, as its advisor. Waqar, based in Australia, had extensive meetings with the chairman and took charge of his new assignment on Tuesday.
The former Pakistan cricket team coach and bowling coach, Waqar Younis, will now oversee matters related to the national team. His role will include monitoring international and domestic cricket, national selection committee, coaches’ matters, and planning for the game.
On the other hand, Mohsin Naqvi will continue overlooking the administrative affairs of national cricket as Chairman of PCB.

For cricket fans, Waqar Younis represents experience and technical acumen in the game. They feel his presence is going to effect better decision-making for the national team. It is not only in Pakistan that Waqar Younis is regarded as an accomplished fast bowler but also all over the world, and therefore his coaching experience may come in handy for the team’s bowling department.
Various critics have, however, come out to question his re-appointment. They argued that the performance of the Pakistan cricket team was not very encouraging during his previous tenure and often criticized his coaching style. The PCB ought to have given opportunity to a fresh face who would bring a new perspective into cricket management.
