PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar And Rauf Hasan Arrested

The Islamabad police arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar and spokesperson Rauf Hasan.
According to local media, the CDA, along with the police, conducted an operation against illegal encroachments in Sector G-8. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar and spokesperson Rauf Hasan were arrested during this operation.
Police are on record having stated that the digital media cell of PTI had been used as a hub for international disinformation and propaganda against Pakistan. Propagation of anti-Pakistan and anti-national integrity propaganda was said to have been the norm from the said digital media cell.
Those who were directly involved in the anti-Pakistan propaganda were also arrested, the police said. Rauf Hasan had been supervising the PTI digital media cell, which was supervising all the evidence seized, and based on that evidence, he was also arrested.

The PTI had already claimed the arrest of both Rauf Hasan and Barrister Gohar.
Meanwhile the PTI had said in a statement that the police had also taken away computers and other related equipment from their secretariat.
PTI leadership has strongly reacted and condemned these arrests, severely criticizing the government’s moves. They said that these actions were being taken in order to conceal the failures of the current government and to stifle the voice of PTI.
The PTI workers reacted furiously to the police operation and called it political revenge of the government. They termed the action a conspiracy against PTI to weaken it and deprive PTI of its rights.
Political analysts are watching closely to see how this development will affect PTI’s future strategies. The government’s crackdown on PTI’s digital media operations has sparked debates about freedom of speech and the right to political dissent. While some believe this is a necessary step to curb misinformation, others see it as a blatant attempt to silence the opposition.
