Miftah Ismail to Take Legal Action Against K-Electric

The former Finance Minister, Miftah Ismail, announced that he was going to take legal action against K-Electric.

Addressing a protest outside K-Electric’s head office, Miftah Ismail announced he is going to take legal action action against the power utility company (K-Electric). He spoke out against the billing system of K-Electric and demanded fair tariff rates.

Miftah Ismail said, “I am going to file a petition against K-Electric. The PML-N does not provide free electricity, but the rates should be fair.”

He asked why K-Electric sends requests to NEPRA for increasing the rates and why the bill of 199 units is charged as if it were 201 units? He also asked why the bill does not decrease despite load shedding?

“If there are 12 hours of load shedding, the bill should be reduced,” he argued.

He further said that KE must stop over billing.

Miftah Ismail submitted a memorandum at K-Electric’s office and asked for the government to stop collection of taxes on electricity bills, saying this would save 50 billion rupees. He has also condemned imposing late fees for delayed bill payments.

Miftah Ismail appealed to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to stop overbilling of K-Electric and reduce electricity bills.
