9 people drowned at Hawksbay and Sea View in Karachi.

In Karachi, 9 people drowned while swimming in the sea at Sea View and Hawksbay. One body has been recovered, and four people have been rescued.

At Hawks Bay, six people drowned. The rescue workers pulled two individuals from the sea and took them to the hospital in a critical state. The search has been initiated to find the remaining bodies.

According to police, a family from Liaquatabad’s Gujjar Nala area was having picnicking. Man and a woman who safely rescued are in serious condition.

Meanwhile, at Sea View near Chunky Monkey, three people also drowned. Divers safely rescued two young men while one young man named Danish was recovered dead.

The body of the young man who dead, identified as Danish Sultanabad, was handed over to members of his family after legal formalities.

4 Drowned At Hawksbay

Last month, on the third day of Eid, four persons who had come to Hawksbay for a picnic also drowned in the sea, with three rescued. According to rescue authorities, all four persons belonged to the same family residing in Karachi’s Federal B Area.

Section 144 Imposed in Coastal Areas

The Sindh government has imposed Section 144 on beaches along the coast in Karachi and banned swimming in the sea.

Official authorities stated that the order was to save the lives of people who visit the beaches.

Public Response and Reactions

The successive drownings have triggered a high degree of social concern and discussion. Citizens are expressing their frustration over the lack of adequate safety measures at popular beach destinations.

The recurring issue of the drownings is earning the local authorities some criticism over their slow response. Many are beginning to question the effectiveness of the current safety protocols and call for more warning signs and lifeguard stations along major beaches.

Citizens are also taking to advise others to exercise caution when visiting beaches, with calls for beachgoers not to swim in dangerous spots and to be wary of the current weather conditions and water currents.
