Imran Khan To Contest Oxford University Chancellor

The former Prime Minister and founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, will contest for the Chancellor Of Oxford University, from Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.

Foreign Media has reported that despite the imprisonment of 10 years, Imran Khan would be participating in the election for Oxford University Chancellor online. For the first time ever, the Chancellor elections would be held online instead of other traditional methods.

According to foreign media, the Chancellor’s job became vacant after 80-year-old Lord Patten, the former Governor of Hong Kong, resigned after holding the position for 21 years.

The report further added that other candidates in contention for the Chancellor job include former British Prime Ministers Sir Tony Blair and Boris Johnson. Any graduate of Oxford University can also contest in the elections, though the Chancellor job has traditionally been held by politicians.

An aide to Imran Khan, Zulfi Bukhari, told foreign media that the PTI founder will contest the Chancellorship owing to public pressure. He said a formal announcement would be made within days.

It should be kept in mind that Imran Khan is an alumnus of Oxford University. He read Economics and Politics at Keble College, Oxford, graduating in 1972. Moreover, Imran Khan had also been elected Chancellor of Bradford University in 2005.

The supporters of Imran Khan have welcomed the news. Looking at the past record, his contribution towards politics and education, his supporters expect to get his victory.

Imran Khan’s candidacy for the Chancellorship of Oxford University is seen as a significant move, given his historical ties to the institution and his prominence in both cricket and politics.

His tenure as the Prime Minister of Pakistan was marked by various reforms and initiatives, which his supporters believe demonstrate his leadership capabilities. They argue that his experience in governance and his educational background make him a suitable candidate for the prestigious position of Chancellor.
