Fawad Khan’s Web Series ‘Barzakh’ Faces Criticism
Fawad Khan, a Pakistani heartthrob actor, is facing severe criticism for his web series ‘Barzakh’ over scenes with LGBT agenda.
Directed by Pakistani filmmaker Asim Abbasi, the web series was produced for an Indian streaming platform. Fawad Khan played the main role in Web Series ‘Barzakh,’ which is facing severe criticism due to scenes with LGBT agenda.
The inaugural episode of ‘Barzakh’ was launched on 19 July on Zindagi’s YouTube channel and on ZEE5. The second and the third episodes, released on 23 and 26 July respectively, had scenes of two men kissing and other.
Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed are step-siblings in the series. Following the telecast of male-on-male kissing scenes, the viewers have started accusing the serial of promoting some foreign agenda.

Viewers have also slammed the serial and said that such content is against Pakistani societal values and cultural norms. The series has received massive backlash on social media where people refer to it as “obscene” and “immoral”.
Social media users have also lambasted Fawad Khan and Asim Abbasi for taking part in the controversial series just for the sake of fame and money. They further added that celebrities should be socially responsible, with a mindset that their deed and actions may impact society.
Many have demanded an immediate ban on such content in Pakistan and are concerned it may leave a bad impact on the moral upbringing of the younger generation.
Public petitions and online campaigns have started to emerge, urging regulatory authorities to take immediate action against the series and similar content. Critics argue that allowing such material to air freely could lead to a gradual erosion of traditional family values and contribute to moral decay among the youth.

They have called on the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to intervene and impose stricter censorship on content that is available online, as well as to hold streaming platforms accountable for broadcasting content that goes against the country’s moral and ethical standards.
