Devara Struggles at Box Office, 275 Crore Milestone in Doubt
Telugu action drama Devara is nearing the end of its box office run, with Jr NTR’s much-anticipated comeback after RRR falling short of expectations. Despite early excitement and praise for its action sequences, VFX, and cast performances, the film struggled due to its predictable plotline.
Devara initially opened strong but has seen a steady decline, now earning between 3.75-4 crores on day 13, a 13-19% drop from the previous day. With total earnings around 260 crores, the 275 crore mark seems increasingly out of reach, especially with major Dussehra releases like Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan and Alia Bhatt’s Jigra poised to take over the box office.
Devara’s future now hinges on last-minute spot bookings, as word-of-mouth buzz remains limited.
Despite its strong start, Devara couldn’t maintain the momentum after the first weekend. The initial buzz, driven largely by Jr NTR’s star power and the anticipation following RRR, fizzled out as audiences found the storyline to be underwhelming.

While the film benefited from the lack of major competition in certain markets, the arrival of Dussehra releases is expected to deal a significant blow to its box office prospects.
Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan, which has garnered immense hype nationwide, is set to take center stage, along with other anticipated films like Jigra and Vicky Aur Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video. These releases are expected to dominate theaters, making it difficult for Devara to hold onto its remaining screens. This shift could result in a sharp drop in footfalls, making the 275 crore milestone nearly impossible to achieve.
Industry experts believe that Devara’s lack of a compelling narrative is the primary reason for its underperformance, despite high expectations. The film’s reliance on action and VFX wasn’t enough to sustain long-term interest, particularly in an industry where content-driven films are gaining more traction.
As Dussehra approaches, the clock is ticking for Devara to make its final mark, but the chances seem slim as new films take over the box office spotlight.
