60% of People in Pakistan Do Not Use Social Media

A recent survey indicates that out of total, 60% of people in Pakistan do not use social media.

Gallup Pakistan released a report on the social media usage of Pakistanis, which shows that 60% of the population does not social media.

The poll was conducted from June 28 to July 10 and received responses from over 700 people. As many as 60 percent of Pakistanis do not use social media, while 40 percent reported having accounts and using these applications or websites.

The poll also said that 62% of Pakistanis under 30 use social media, while only 30% of those over 30 are active users.

Gender-wise, 45% of men and 35% of women reported using Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok; men were leading on social media usage.

The finding further said that 22 percent of Pakistanis mentioned making friends online through these apps, while 76 percent said they had not made any online friends.

It also found that social media is more utilised by people in urban areas as compared to those in rural. Social media usage was found to be higher among individuals having higher education levels.

The results of the survey show that most people in the population use social media for their entertainment, news, and to keep in touch with their friends and family. Many of them reported that social media has always kept them up-to-date on what is happening in their family members’ lives.

Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok are presently the most renowned social media tools in Pakistan. These platforms have gained immense popularity due to their user-friendly interfaces and diverse content options. Despite the significant number of non-users, those who do use social media find it an integral part of their daily lives, contributing to their social interactions and access to information.

In addition to these trends, the survey revealed that the reasons for not using social media varied widely among the non-users. Some cited privacy concerns, fearing that their personal information could be compromised. Others mentioned a lack of interest or the belief that social media is a waste of time. A significant portion of non-users also indicated that they did not have access to the necessary technology or reliable internet services to use social media effectively.
