Data Leak of Millions of X Users

Reports suggest that social networking site X, formerly Twitter, faced a data leak pertaining to millions of its users.

A massive data leak of 9.4 gigabytes belonging to 200 millions users of X (formerly Twitter), has been found by cybersecurity experts.

According to cybersecurity researchers at CyberPress, this is one of the giant data leaks reported recently. This revelation raises massive concerns about the privacy and security of users.

The leaked information allegedly contains the users’ names, email addresses, and details of their X accounts. Such information could be used to carry out social engineering attacks against users.

The experts are worried that threat actors might use such data against the users for system compromise connected to email accounts in phishing attacks.

The first report of this leaked data came from a popular hacking forum where a user called “Mashupa” registered an account and published the huge database on 7th July 2024. Every file inside the data is one gigabyte in size.

Experts have warned that exposure of this data can lead to huge problems regarding the user, including spam emails and other cybercrimes. Apparently, it is going to be a deep concern for all users since their personal information has been compromised, making them vulnerable to its misuse.

According to experts, X Users should Change their password, Enable 2FA, Be ultra careful about dodgy emails or messages ASAP.
