Gold And Silver Jewelry Found During Excavation In Kerala
Rare gold and silver coins, along with valuable jewelry, have been discovered during an excavation in the Indian state of Kerala.
While excavation to collect rainwater, a group of laborers in Kerala stumbled upon rare gold and silver coins and precious jewelry. According to Indian media, the workers were conducting the digging to conserve and collect rainwater when they noticed some gold coins.
The laborers found a clay pot during the digging, which contained several gold and silver coins. The next day, they discovered five more silver coins and two gold ornaments at the same site.

Initially, the workers thought the pot might contain a bomb and discarded it out of fear. However, when the pot broke, they were astonished to see its contents.
The unearthed treasure included 13 gold lockets, 17 bead necklaces, 5 ancient rings, 4 medals (possibly decorative), a set of earrings, and several silver coins.
The discovery was reported to the police, who then arrived at the scene and took the items into custody. On Friday, the items were presented in the district court. The court has ordered the archaeology department to further investigate and examine the findings.
The archaeology department has decided to retrieve the materials for further study. An official mentioned that the site of the discovery does not have any known historical significance, suggesting that the items might have been part of someone’s private collection. However, definitive conclusions can only be drawn after thorough investigations.
